teaching

Joy has over a decade of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and skill levels—from young beginners to undergraduate and graduate violin performance majors. Passionate about fostering growth in her students as both musicians and individuals, she believes that the skills developed through learning the violin can transcend the instrument, enriching and shaping their lives in meaningful ways.
As a Suzuki-certified instructor, Joy believes that every child can learn to play the violin at a high level. She strives to empower her students to discover their unique musical voice while honoring their individuality and creative process. Her former students have gone on to attend top university music programs, perform in honors orchestras, receive music scholarships, and lead lives deeply enriched by music.
